Seminar Description:
The starting point of an import or export transaction is the proper classification of the merchandise. Among other things, classification determines duty rates, eligibility for special trade programs, Other Government Agency reviews, and licensing. We will review the General Rules of Interpretation, Binding Rulings, the Explanatory Notes, and other classification tools and techniques.
Duty minimization strategies such as Duty Relief Programs, TIBs, MPF Management, Duty Drawback, Bonded Warehouses, and Foreign Trade Zones save real money during the import process, as do Free Trade Agreements which, despite having been around in one form or another for about 40 years, remain one of the most complex, misunderstood, and misapplied customs strategies used by importers and exporters today.
A laptop will be helpful for the classification exercises.

Deadline to register is April 19.
