Course Description
Value is the component against which duty rates are multiplied to determine how much duty will be owed at the time of import. Determining the proper valuation is essential to the proper calculation of duties, and is a target area when Customs and Border Protection visits to perform a Focused Assessment. This course covers the various valuation methodologies defined by the WTO and CBP. We will review the concepts related to Related Party Transactions, Transaction, Deductive, and Computed Value, Transfer Pricing Agreements and Valuation, Assists, Royalties, Commissions, Packing Costs, Freight, Insurance, and other Additions and Deductions to Price.

Given today’s fast-changing trade environment, we will also discuss the latest trade actions taken by the US Trade Representative, as well as some of the measures companies are taking to deal with these changes.
