Description:
Import 101: For the new practitioner, those from non-compliance roles within a company, or others seeking a refresher, we will review CBP history, importers' responsibility to use Reasonable Care in their day-to-day activities, the Most Common Importer Errors, preparing for a Focused Assessment and understanding how Priority Trade Issues impact daily affairs. Other topics to be discussed include: Classification; Valuation; Record-keeping; Post-entry activity and Origin Determination.

Import 201: Intended for the more experienced import compliance professional, we will discuss the greater underlying questions of classification and country of origin, broker management, auditing and ACE. We will also review duty mitigation strategies and other ways to use import compliance as a means of bringing money back to your company's bottom line.

Norm joined Tradewin in 2011. He has held the position of Trade Counsel for a logistics management firm and managed the Trade Compliance departments for several multinational corporations. Norm's technical background includes Import and Export Compliance, Free Trade Programs, C-TPAT implementation, as well as a broad spectrum of international trade topics. Norm holds a B.A. from Middlebury College and a J.D. from Suffolk Law School.
